Oligui entered into office as President of Gabon, taking the constitutional oath on the stadium not far from Libreville with around 40 thousand people present. He assumed the position of acting president for a period of 19 months after the coup that took place over Ali Bongo Ondimba.
At the Akanda stadium, during a ceremonial event, Oligui became the first president of Gabon to lead the country out of 55 years of rule by the Bongo family, which has been accused of plundering Gabon's wealth. The new president was elected with a result of 94.85% of votes in the presidential elections held on April 12. The African leader organized the event, which began around 13:30 local time.
